State of the Game

Welcome to State of the Game 5: Five, Alive, and Ready to Drive! Once more, we have some updates to share with all of you that we hope will help the game run more smoothly. Also, we are planning to simplify Apocalypse How's AC rules regarding what constitutes a single proof and would like you, our players to weigh in. Please vote for your preferred option in the poll linked below!

Please note the following:

Characters who were present in Gloucester in October 2021 will no doubt recall the suffering inflicted on themselves and the town at large by Ava, the Lullaby Girl. Those who weren't around will hear all about it from native ADI employees now that recent headlines regarding mysterious, sleep-inducing music have put them on alert for her likely return. Last year, Ava's music repeatedly put staff and locals to sleep and forced them to experience their own deaths over and over in endless nightmares. The nightmares culminated in a massive shared dream in which characters who believed themselves to be awake and attending the office Halloween party found themselves transforming into monsters and killing one another. A few days later, a message was posted to ADI's network from a random employee's phone from 'Ava, the Lullabye Girl', promising to come back next year and hinting that someone named "Mr. S" had suggested she show up in Gloucester.
Ongoing Player Plots
1. Restoring Bonnie's Flophouse - Contact graveyounglady for information.
  This plot is in its third month and will be entering its fourth and final soon. At the end of October, the description of Bonnie's Flophouse will be updated to reflect the repairs and modifications that characters have made, making it a potentially more attractive living space compared to ADI's apartments. It's a harder life living there, but there is significantly more freedom for characters.
2. Helping Hands Investigation - Contact bindlestifflost for information.
  Characters who have sought to impact the lives of those not already impacted by the supernatural will be reaping the rewards for their efforts. This player plot is planned to kick off fully in late-October/November, with a resolution in the December Modplot. Characters will have the opportunity to help brainstorm cursed items that might be afflicting the most vulnerable members of the community and find ways to help them while tracking down the culprits.
Activity Check Update
Activity Check requirements that WILL NOT change are as follows:
- AC requires two proofs per month
- An open top-level comment on an event or a log/network post ~~with at least three total comments~~ may be used as a proof (comment requirements will no longer apply; you just need the open post/TL)
- As a special exception, if a player is organizing and running a Player Plot in a particular month, they may provide evidence of this (OOC posts, mod communications, a log set up for others to use, etc.) as evidence of game activity
- Players are allowed to use inbox and/or TDM threads as proofs
- Players may use two of the same type of proof
- A proof used in a previous month may not be reused
- Players may not submit an open top-level and one of the threads from that top level as separate proofs in the same month (you may submit a post/top-level one month, then use the threads within that post/top-level for proofs in following months if they reach the appropriate AC length within the month)
Current AC rules regarding the length and type of thread-based proofs that WILL BE RETIRED as of October are as follows:
- A log proof consists of 5 comments from your character
- A network proof consists of 10 comments from your character
- A hybrid thread proof consists of 6+ network comments and 1 to 4 log comments from your character
- Players may combine two threads to reach the log or network comments requirement for ONE proof each month
We have identified the following two options to replace the above rules regarding thread lengths required for proofs:
1. Threads may be combined - thread-based proofs will consist of 10 comments of any kind from your character, and players may combine up to two threads for each proof.
2. Threads may not be combined - thread-based proofs will consist of 5 comments of any kind from your character, but threads may not be combined to form a proof.

Please ensure you have filled in the poll by September 30th at 11:59 PM Pacific Time. We will release results on October 1st, and the new rule will go into effect in October. Players may choose whether to use the old or new rules when submitting AC for September.
