Player Plot: A Farewell to (crab) Arm [OOC]

A Farewell to (crab) Arm
or when your therapist convinces you to give a hand for dinner

CW: Body horror, dismemberment, manipulation, disembodied limbs, stalking, creepy (non-sexual) touch, claustrophobia (through lack of personal boundaries)


Through a series of intertwining events, The (once John) Sheppard will be receiving a rather fancy and fully functional prosthetic/bio-mechanical arm to replace the arm mutated into a crab claw by the events in Buffalo, NY.

Thanks to the creation magicks of Elidibus and Emet-Selch, this will be fully functional arm with a few additional perks due to their paradigm. All good, right?

Well the problem is when they use this particular magic to make anything that stays around permanently, it becomes heavily influenced by their patrons. And when both work together to make something and their subject is a Hunt Avatar?

Well things take shape for the not-so-good.

The Skivvy

Ramping up with incidents and rumors in the latter half of September and into October are sightings and encounters of a mysterious entity and in time it may be revealed to be a ghostly or disembodied hand. Connecting it to Sheppard’s new arm may not be so easy, particularly since this sometimes nebulous, sometimes corporeal artifact will possess traits common to three fears and won’t just look exactly like Shep’s new arm.

Broadly this plot is a side-effect of Sheppard gaining a new arm and while it may be shaped by the more major events going on in Glouchester and even Sheppard’s own actions that something is up with his new appendage, it should run concurrent to anything happening and folk may choose or not choose to participate.

In addition this will be open to any who wish to participate. While some might be put on the trail via their contacts like the ADI or other sources, this is ultimately going to be something anyone can hear news about. Or experience directly.

Basics

This OOC post is to make the upcoming plot known. There will be another IC post to consolidate threads on so people can keep up, reference or read. That’s where any IC rumors, news or side story stuff will be posted.

Use this thread and the appropriate Questions and Scene Request comments below if you are interested. Besides interactions with the individual characters involved in the initial setup, scenes dealing with arm encounters will be available from both Maruah (Elidibus) and Indy (John Sheppard).

NPCs who are witnesses or survivors of an arm incident will be played by Maruah.

Information about expected arm ‘powers’ as a cursed piece of horribleness will be available on the IC post!

Scenes and investigations can happen any time between now and October and maybe some aftermath/residual stuff in November but the main bulk of fallout and resolution will probably be slated to happen in October, simply to help get some scenes out and done and allow for a wide range of schedule for participation!
