Mostly trying to see if they can be lured, honestly, with the traps being a good way to immobilize them and thin out the herd a little. And also to slow them down because boars are fast. But luring them specifically to get shot works too - whoever's playing bait could still notice that the boars are trying to run them into traps like they know exactly where they are.
