There's a small concentration of eldritch power in each elf doll that has the flavor of a fear Entity, but their auras are difficult to pin down and really look at. Doubt and confusion assail the magical senses...and then it's the elf's turn to get a read on the magic user. They see all of who he is and what he's capable of, and they are absolutely judging him.
