Akechi won't let them get seriously injured or killed -- he doesn't know what the consequences for uhhhh witnessing-death-by-stupidity-without-intervening are, but he doesn't intend to fuck around and find out. Maybe the punk gets burned, drops the artifact, and Akechi and Keith will have to fight off the rest?
