Timeline

➥ Breaking It In: 21 July
➥ Move the Goalposts: 23-24 July
➥ Curveball: 23-24 July
➥ Below the Belt: 24 July (night)
➥ Sticky Wicket: 21 July - 5 August

➥ Breaking It In
cw: mentions of apparent mutilation of/violence against animals and animal death

Characters are given a briefing by Reyes Amador that the kelpie encountered in the TDM prompt has likely come from Essex Bay. They know this due to triangulating disappearances and apparent marine mammal deaths. Reyes invites people to ask them questions about this mission and about ADI. Bonnie is also present to give her opinions.

➥ Move the Goalposts
cw: kidnapping, violence, sadism

Kelpies appear and attempt to kidnap characters from Gloucester. The only safe haven from the creatures if you can't fight them is ADI HQ and ADI Housing.

➥ Curveball
cw: kidnapping, violence/violence and mutilation against apparent animals, sadism, body horror, transformation, potential for claustrophobia

Kidnapped characters awaken to find the kelpies tormenting what seems to be a seal. It is not a seal, though. The kelpies cut the animal open to reveal it's a woman who's been trapped inside the sealskin. Kidnapped characters find themselves subject to the same fate. They are wrapped in sealskin and become psychically-linked selkies, hunted by the kelpies through the dark waters of Essex Bay.

➥ Below the Belt
cw: violence/violence and mutilation against apparent animals, body horror, gore

Characters on the Essex Bay mission arrive to find clever seals in the water being chased by horrible crocodile horse monsters. The kelpies attempt to hunt, capture, and kill the selkies and their would-be rescuers.

➥ Sticky Wicket
cw: potential for severe burns/injury, pain

Characters are tasked with fetching artifacts from a rundown portion of the Docks. The artifacts, if touched, induce 3rd-degree burns and a burning sensation across one's entire body. Additionally, characters may find themselves having to deal with some of the young punks around town who have claimed this part of the Docks for themselves and want what's in that box.

A Handy Plotting Form

goro akechi | persona 5

➥ Goro Akechi
Canon: Persona 5 Royal
Housing: ADI - apartment A1
Permissions: HERE

Breaking It In - Akechi will be there! He won't be shy about asking questions, but he'll mostly be watching the rest of the new arrivals, trying to gauge who might actually be helpful, and who might be hinderances. He'll be somewhat reassuring if anyone looks frightened, but more in the vein of "you're not required to go," and not, "you'll be fine."

Move the Goalposts -

a - I'm not planning to have Akechi be kidnapped himself, but he'll be able/willing to defend anyone running or try to rescue anyone being chased! He is not above trying to shoot and kill the kelpies once he realizes they are actually monsters and not just people.

b - Also, we're planning on having Ren Amamiya be one of the people kidnapped, which means Akechi will be extremely inclined to go out on his own to gather information and try to find the only person he actually cares about. People are welcome to join him or talk him down from a suicide mission! His pleasant mask will have slipped quite a bit by then, so expect a somewhat-less-fake/polite boy.

Curveball - N/A

Below the Belt - Akechi will absolutely be part of the recon mission, especially in the wake of the kidnappings. It won't occur to him to literally slice the seals open, but if directed to, he'll do it without complaining (too much). He'll be eager and willing to help track down the kelpies themselves and has no qualms about killing them, especially once it becomes clear that the seals are actually transformed people. It might be a little disturbing to the people he's spoken with already just how much joy he'll take in being able to (attempt to) fight.

Sticky Wicket - "Are you cruel enough to let them have it?" yes. Yes he is. Akechi's had enough experience with the supernatural not to want to bother opening the box when it's more beneficial to him not to open it, and he'll discourage PCs from doing the same, but if the box is knocked out of his hands and whomever assaulted him goes to grab it, well. Instant punishment on their part and Akechi gets to see what happens, so. Win/win!

gojou would definitely join in on going to gather information. suicide mission means nothing to him, either

Hell yeah Gojou!! Listen, there's time for strategy and tactics when people who aren't Ren Amamiya are violently missing. He's not suicidal enough to charge the entire base without knowing more, but he would at least want to find out whether or not there's a time limit (if the kelpies are actively killing their captured prey, or just toying with them).

I'll be doing a general toplevel, then I can do a closed prompt beneath for Gojou specifically! Maybe not tonight, but tomorrow for sure. Maybe they can run into each other that evening, after Ren is taken?

Sounds great! I'll look for it!

Monika wouldn't tell Akechi not to go save his friend but she would probably encourage him to do it in a non-suicidal way, especially if she caught him suiting up in their apartment or something.

Honestly, he's probably going to end up missing curfew thanks to the attack wheezes. Would she text him if he didn't show up in time?

I think Monika would if it's after her own kidnapping attempt. She'd be worried something happened to him. (And I guess it kind of did, but in a secondhand way...)

EDIT: Here's the text message!

So I think these two are of similar mind with regards to how to handle the sticky wicket situation and that sounds like a very good time for them and a possibly bad time for some local hooligans. Seems like a good note to get to interacting, pfff

I'm definitely down for that! Akechi won't let them get seriously injured or killed -- he doesn't know what the consequences for uhhhh witnessing-death-by-stupidity-without-intervening are, but he doesn't intend to fuck around and find out. Maybe the punk gets burned, drops the artifact, and Akechi and Keith will have to fight off the rest?
marmoron: marmoron (<3)

[personal profile] marmoron 2021-07-23 06:33 am (UTC)(link)
That works perfectly! Keith is... not inclined to just stay back and watch if someone's getting horrifically burned (and actually, I should specify that if he realizes whoever's holding the artifact is getting third degree burns, that might wind up slightly triggering for him).

Will you be posting a top level for this event, or should I include a closed starter for Akechi in mine?

hey, sorry for the wait! i was knocked out of commission yesterday, but i wrote up a closed prompt for keith if this works for you?

aelwyn is also absolutely of the exact same mind about what to do with anyone stupid enough to steal the artifact. she would want to take the artifact and bring it back for study, but she'd also be 100% down with watching the punks suffer for their hubris and be both relieved and amused that someone else agrees.

alternatively, she's likely to have some trouble fighting (or more specifically trying to kill) the kelkies so she'd appreciate being helped

I'd be good with either! Just to keep things chronologically Neat for myself, if we wanted to have them do artifact-retrieval together, Akechi would tell her about his and Keith's experience so at least they wouldn't be going in unprepared.

Otherwise, I'm absolutely down for Akechi helping her fight! Without a sword or a Persona, his main strategy is to shoot them in the head and not get hit. He'll also be somewhat less pleasantly polite, considering a) combat and b) Ren is getting kidnapped, so he'll be out for blood lmao.
aelwyn_aberration: (face hidden... cant see me)

[personal profile] aelwyn_aberration 2021-07-22 11:10 pm (UTC)(link)
Hmmmmmmm..... probably the artifact retrieval then, for preference! Unless she's breaking out her magic, she's unlikely to be particularly animated in a fight, even as she does want to shoot some kelpies dead. So it'll probably fit her skillset in combination with his if they're dealing with the artifacts instead.

sorry for the wait!! i was sick yesterday and got like nothing done, but i wrote up a closed prompt for aelwyn if this works for you? as for introductions, he would have just introduced himself with his family name, akechi 👍
