➥ Breaking It In
cw: mentions of apparent mutilation of/violence against animals and animal death

Characters are given a briefing by Reyes Amador that the kelpie encountered in the TDM prompt has likely come from Essex Bay. They know this due to triangulating disappearances and apparent marine mammal deaths. Reyes invites people to ask them questions about this mission and about ADI. Bonnie is also present to give her opinions.

Kelpies appear and attempt to kidnap characters from Gloucester. The only safe haven from the creatures if you can't fight them is ADI HQ and ADI Housing.

Kidnapped characters awaken to find the kelpies tormenting what seems to be a seal. It is not a seal, though. The kelpies cut the animal open to reveal it's a woman who's been trapped inside the sealskin. Kidnapped characters find themselves subject to the same fate. They are wrapped in sealskin and become psychically-linked selkies, hunted by the kelpies through the dark waters of Essex Bay.

Characters on the Essex Bay mission arrive to find clever seals in the water being chased by horrible crocodile horse monsters. The kelpies attempt to hunt, capture, and kill the selkies and their would-be rescuers.

cw: potential for severe burns/injury, pain

Characters are tasked with fetching artifacts from a rundown portion of the Docks. The artifacts, if touched, induce 3rd-degree burns and a burning sensation across one's entire body. Additionally, characters may find themselves having to deal with some of the young punks around town who have claimed this part of the Docks for themselves and want what's in that box.

She'll want to hear about all the worlds and meet her fellow arrivals so if you want to infodump all your lore as an icebreaker, she'll be super fascinated by that. She's also very approachable and chatty, so she'd have no qualms just starting a conversation with quieter characters! → Move the Goalposts - Cassie is getting kidnapped, other than that no plans yet! She might play bait or try and help other characters, I'm game for pretty much anything! → Curveball - She's been canonically turned into a mermaid before and admittedly, this sucks a whole lot more?? But she couldn't speak back then as well, so she'd probably be quick figuring out the telepathic link. Anyone up for not a good time in the caves or trying to outmaneuver the kelpies? She will also likely seek out fellow seal sufferers afterwards for some good ole trauma sharing and sitting together if anyone's up for that sweet sweet hurt comfort. → Below the Belt - Once she figures the boats are here to help she'll try and work together with their rescuers. Maybe save someone who went overboard or try and coordinate some helpful flank attack with her fellow selkies. But sice she's not the most physical person, it's likely that she gets recaptured several times and is very done at this point meaning she'll be quite desperate for help. → Sticky Wicket - Ohhhh she gon open the box. Is she gonna touch it? She's gonna touch it. Anyone wanna fight some punks on the side that try to steal their burn gear?

I would love to have Mercy and Cassie meet as selkies! This is so far outside of Mercy's realm of experience, she's not going to be handling it super well, even if she'll do her best to stay brave.

Yess, let's do it! Cassie will definitely do her best to be encouraging and supportive but this is a level of horror that's really new for her too. Maybe they can boost each other!
