Player Plot - Let's Fix Up Bonnie's Place

Hello, all! Terri coming to you with a Player Plot! Mercy's been in the game for a year now, and she's seen the housing disparities between those who live in ADI-provided housing and those who live at Bonnie's place. The part of the mission of her faith, the Spring Tide, is to give aide to those who need it. It's also a central tenet of her previous faith in Brother Earth. So! She's talked to Bonnie and has received permission to begin a restoration project for the Flophouse.

  • Timeline: 4 Months (July to October)
  • July: Roof and Exterior repairs. Expertise Needed: Roofing, carpentry, masonry
  • August: Plumbing repairs. Expertise Needed: Plumbing, insulation
  • September: Electrical repairs. Expertise Needed: Electrical, engineering, renewable energy, insulation
  • October: Interior repairs. Expertise Needed: Carpentry, masonry, mending, interior design
But, you ask, what can my character do if they want to help, but don't have one of these expertises? Many things!

  • Assist those with expertise.
  • Provide funding for equipment, building supplies, or various things that might crop up.
  • Make sure people working on this have their work at ADI covered, too! Wanna swap shifts?
  • Help with feeding and watering the workers so that burden doesn't fall on Bonnie or those just living in the Flophouse.
By the end of this, the goal is to have the Flophouse up to a much higher standard of living. Maybe not fully on part with what ADI can offer, but much closer to it. If this sounds like something your character would be interested in, I'll be putting up a network post calling for volunteers ICly, and have an open log each month where characters can work on this project in between all the horror that's been happening.

George can help with carpentry and roofing. He'd be willing to work on this in his spare time in July. October is too far out for me to know yet, but he wouldn't have the experience for the work of August and September. He could provide support then or covering shifts.

Jaeger has enough general experience with maintaining a house that he will be happy to play backup to the folks who have more expertise - going on lumber runs, hauling away scrap, basic things like painting and moving furniture, cleaning up and helping provide meals and other support. He's a good set of hands and listens well to directions as well as being able to reach high places!

Hell also offer some money as he can, and help do research. Shopping around for best prices, etc. When he can't offer direct assistance, he can cover work shifts as well.

Seeing as Beau is now one of the only people living at the Flophouse, she's not just going to sit around when everyone else is doing stuff to help. Plus, she likes Bonnie, so why not join in the effort. She knows how to do some basic carpentry and has the muscle to lift heavy stuff, so she'll toss around and put in whatever she can.

Hickey knows basic repair skills due to his job on Terror (he was caulker's mate). He'll be rubbish at anything specialized (my man has no idea what a circuit is) but he'll be useful at basic carpentry and insulation work.

He is also 100% not going to be buying anything for the project if he can help it. This is his money, thank you very much, he's saving up for that trip to Maui.

Taka's a pretty resourceful guy, so he's in for the repairs, plumbing, electric, and heavy lifting. He can help out with carpentry too as long as someone's there to direct him (he's no expert with the measuring and all that).

Here and there the guy can make riceballs for the team-- cheap tuna-mayo only, though.

Peter just moved into Bonnie's so he'll definitely help out when he sees people giving the place an overhaul. He can help out with appliances, check electrical wirings and fix the lights maybe?

Although he may be a bit inconsistent with actually showing up and committing if more interesting things come up calling him out on that very welcome

Bruno will come help! He's handy with basic repairs, though he probably doesn't have the expertise for helping much with electrical or plumbing beyond being an extra pair of hands. He'll also be chipping in here and there for supplies out of his ADI salary.

Signing Neal up for this a few months late with Starbucks shhh shh. (Okay he wouldn't drink Starbucks but still.)

He wouldn't have been able to do much in July or August, but he would have covered shifts for people and helped feed the workers doing stuff at Bonnie's during that time. He loves and is good at cooking, so!!

But, come September, he'd actually be able to help with wiring and engineering things. He's by no means professionally certified, but he's intimately familiar with home, business, and security wiring systems.

In October is where he'll really shine, because as far as interior design goes, he'll be all over it. With Bonnie's permission, he'll paint inviting murals in the common spaces and recreate classical and pop-art pieces for the bedrooms. If he's allowed, he might even go a little ham and "theme" some of the rooms with certain colors, motifs, or artists.
