General Notes
1. Based on our poll, the new schedule for TDMs and events is below. There will be no changes to the Activity Check schedule. October has been updated to reflect changes, as have our game pages. Please let us know if you find anywhere that we have missed updating!

  • 1st of the Month - TDM Posted
  • 5th of the Month - Reserves Open
  • 7th of the Month - Apps Open
  • 9th of the Month - Reserves Expire
  • 10th of the Month - Apps Close
  • 12th of the Month - OOC Intro Posted
  • 13th of the Month - Event OOC Post
  • 15th of the Month - Event IC Post
2. We have updated out Post Format post to include a link to our Content Warnings page. Please try to be specific and detailed in your content warnings just to ensure everyone is on the same page, whether they're playing in that thread with you or they're skimming it.

3. We wanted to make sure everyone is aware of the answer to a question that was asked on the FAQ. We have updated the Arrivals page to reflect that:

"Characters are provided with a basic State ID when they are being processed for arrival, whether they are staying with ADI or not. It's not the sort of thing that would let you drive, but is a valid ID for purchasing alcohol and the like. Ages/information will reflect what is realistic based on a character's appearance, rather than what may be true. Even those with clearly-foreign accents will be issued American state ID's. Congrats you're somehow American citizens!"

To be clear, it's not enough documentation to hold a regular job in the community and will not hold up under close scrutiny, but it's something. We would ask that players not use these IDs to have their characters acquire full-time employment out in the wider community, in deference to the fact that we are OOCly trying to avoid characters being pulled completely away from the metaplot. This is connected to the suitability of the character for the game. They should remain engaged with ADI and what's going on with them by choice.

4. We were delighted and blown away by the level of engagement for the "Circus, Circus" event. The mods want to continue to provide the same level of engagement for players during future events without stressing too much about our PC Activity Check. With that in mind, we've decided that a mod's AC may be supplemented by NPC threads if they are running one during an event. The requirements for the threads (e.g., length and time stamps) will be the same, they can just be between the NPC and another PC instead of the mod's PC and another PC. This supplement may be used for one proof, but not both.

➥ Quarter Dollar
(cw: None!)

It’s time for ADI’s quarterly meeting! Before the actual meeting begins, all staff are asked to gather in the gym. Why? Well, ADI has a lot of different departments and they want you, yes you, to come work for them. Each department has set up a booth with information, activities, and even snacks! Most booths have some sort of contest to win prizes, ranging from creative attempts to represent Avatars with food to obstacle courses. Except Staff Development, Staff Development is just a little bit pathetic. Players are welcome to have their own characters manning booths for some of this if they have already selected a department for their characters.

➥ Fiscal Quarter
(cw: references to character deaths/disappearances, reference to animal attacks, mention of insects/centipedes)

After the excitement of ADI’s job fair comes the main event: the Quarterly Meeting, starting with the head of ADI, Nia Lehrer. She has information about what ADI has been doing for the last four months, addressing topics such as ADI’s recent accomplishments - including the rebuffing and relocation of the kelpies - as well as the current threats and investigations that ADI has on its radar. However, she also has something to say to newer arrivals about the use of supernatural abilities, and that something is most certainly a warning.

If characters would like to speak with her after the presentation ends, they will have their chance, since she will be taking short appointments with everyone who wants to have a bit of her attention. The meetings can be done one-on-one or in pairs.

➥ Quarter Pounder
(cw: animal attack, consumption of human flesh, violence, gore, body horror, potential for severe injury, including puncture wounds and broken bones, potential for choking, potential for animal death)

One of the investigations Nia mentions is a deeper investigation of Dogtown, specifically into the much more violent happenings of late within its borders. Anyone who volunteers to patrol there will come to realize just how violent and bloody the place has recently become. There are traps of many different kinds everywhere and if you aren’t careful, you might just fall prey to one. You’d better hope that someone else has also made the choice to patrol, or you could be caught for a long while.

Characters who manage to evade or get free of the traps may make it to a particular clearing. There they will find a few particularly monstrous boars guarding a hole filled with...well. There’s a reason why there seems to be so much blood in Dogtown right now. The boars will try to attack any character who sets foot into the clearing with the intent of killing them and adding their parts to their collection.

➥ Quartermaster
(cw: flooding; damage to homes and possessions; drug paraphernalia; potential for memory loss or reference thereto)

Disaster strikes in the form of flood damage at Bonnie's Flophouse following a particularly bad storm. Player characters' rooms sustain minor damage from leaky windows, while the basement room Bonnie shares with the Visionary is flooded out. Bonnie and the Visionary are forced to camp out on the common room couches, and while Bonnie is busy fixing the damage, her weird, perpetually blindfolded roommate is left hanging out in the common room where he makes a habit of ominously telling visitors not to share stories about their past. As a note, the Visionary is nonbinary and uses he/she/they pronouns interchangeably. Mod narration/responses will reflect this.

For Quarter Dollar: Would a fake interview/audition sort of booth thing for media relations be an okay thing to thing? "Here's the story, try to spin it."

Would characters be able to have a thread with both Nia and the Visionary? (As in, two separate threads, not both of them together, laughs) Or are players limited to one NPC thread for this event?

Just asking ahead of time because decisions are very hard.

Could the boars be lured into the traps, or are they sticking close to their pit come hell or high water?

Quarter Dollar related: Can characters manning booths make up their own games and have prizes for those who win (i.e. giftcards of small monetary amounts)?
