Event OOC - Heavy
Heavy - OOC
Summaries and content warnings for each prompt in the event are provided below. Please pose questions to the designated mod comment, and plot away!
➥ Deep: 16-20 February
➥ Chasm: 21-24 February
➥ Stuck: 21-28 February
➥ Sink: 24-28 February
➥ Deep
(cw: claustrophobia, existential dread, power loss, victim-blaming, time distortion, supernatural compulsion and hunger)
Characters are trapped in their homes as snowfall seems to build a specific wall around them for five straight days–it feels significantly longer than that, though. They receive periodic notices on the network that they should shelter in place and not come in, but that directive is undercut by additional notes indicating that characters are failing to act while something dire is happening. They will not have access to additional food or other supplies while trapped, so hope you stocked up ahead of time. In addition, characters connected to a supernatural patron will find themselves being sapped of their abilities and an intense hunger taking over. They will have few options to feed, save on those they're trapped with. While the internal network works… all other outside internet access seems to be gone.
➥ Chasm
(cw: warped perceptions, memory-loss, implied trauma, supernaturally-induced feelings of missing out)
Characters manage to finally break through the snow walls only to find there's nothing actually there. The city appears to be normal, but there's a pervasive sense that something massive happened and they weren't a part of it. The people on the streets seem to be stricken in some way, but can't provide any details of what might have been missed. There aren't any news stories or any indications on the internet about what's been missed, but there is something. Characters will feel that down to their bones.
If you'd like your character to be the first to pop out of the snow walls and break the illusion, please comment here (LINK) by 11:59 PM Pacific Time, 15 Feb. (You can find your own timezone by checking here (LINK). It's perfectly fine if your character is with someone else when they break through the wall. The winner of the RNG will just be the very first.)
➥ Stuck
(cw: flooding; natural disasters; damage to homes, workplaces, and possessions; references to burial, suffocation, crushing, and murder; supernaturally induced anxiety, responsibility fatigue, and feelings of inadequacy; illness)
Characters return to ADI Headquarters to find that the building was attacked in their absence, and rumor has it there's a prisoner now missing from the cells on floor B4. There's a lack of coherent response to the attack or whatever looming threat it promises from ADI, however, as NPCs and player characters alike find themselves overwhelmed by constant requests, problems, and crises far beyond their ability to keep up. These may include mundane problems related to the damaged headquarters building, apartments, and Flophouse; demands from their jobs; problems in their living situations; as well as miscellaneous supernatural phenomena. Those who would choose to eschew responsibilities at work or try to reprioritize will find that there is always something in need of doing that is important to them, to the point where new problems may seem to arise in impossibly, almost cartoonishly quick succession. Characters may find themselves feeling mentally foggy and struggling to focus on core issues in the face of this inundation of needs from the people and environment around them, and may fall sick from overwork. These effects will overlap with both the Chasm and Sink prompts.
➥ Sink
(cw: claustrophobia, suffocation or near-suffocation)
There are reports of supernatural activity, once more, at Coffins Beach. Concerned about more Kelpie Problems, investigative teams are sent out to watch the water and walk the dunes at the beach. It's not the water that seems to be the issue this time around, though. Instead, some of the dunes look… larger than usual. Not unnaturally so, but noticeably. Walking over them, larger or just a simple little mound, characters will find that at least one partner seems to fall suddenly into the dunes. Sinking down into a sort of tube made of sand. It goes down strangely deep, and once you hit the bottom, the walls of it become unstable. Better hope your partner can get you out before your fully buried alive.

→ Housing: Block A2 with Cortana and Tony Stark
→ What ADI Department(s) Does the Character Work In?: Investigations and Security
→ Permissions: HERE
→ Deep: Jaeger is the type to stay prepared when he can, so the apartment will have at least a little bit of a buffer for supplies. That won't help much when it comes to fueling Jaeger's patron, the Hunt. Having people trapped in the apartment with an Apex Predator sounds like a good time, right? WONDERFUL. Don't mind the prowling and lurking, he's just going to...pretend it's okay. Really. He'll probably try digging out, but that's going to suck with his hands still healing from his run-in with the last event. But don't worry. he doesn't have any specific nefarious plans in mind, really. Just...lingering. Watching. You like to sleep, right? He likes to watch people sleep. Just to be sure.
→ Chasm: Jaeger will eventually start digging out, something he'll continue to attempt purely out of restlessness until they actually manage to escape. As a mage skilled with certain sorts of mind magic, he'll be quick to notice the state of the people around him, and will not be happy about it.
→ Stuck: Jaeger, as a member of security and investigations both, will do his best to piss on any fires that he can possibly stop. Granted, that's going to be a lot of them and he's going to find himself withdrawing into his professional persona to cover for that sense of being overwhelmed. Coffee, lots of black coffee is the best answer he's got, while everything goes mad around him. This is going to be complicated by his guilt about being trapped by the phone case in the last event, and needing to be rescued, and he'll probably backslide more than a little bit into his stoic workaholic persona to avoid dealing with it. At least his hands have mostly healed? Also, coffee.
→ Sink: Jaeger is a big guy. Getting him out of the sand might be asking a bit much, and I'm giving him a little bit of a break after last month, but I'm happy to have him rescue a partner.

I'm all for Andrew startling (aka scaring the living crap out of her) Kate though. She comes around the corner and isn't expecting anyone.

And that sounds like an excellent plan to me. Jaeger prowling around ADI, trying to fix everything that's going on, and still half in Hunt mode. We could definitely do that if you like? I'll be putting up starters a little later, and there will definitely be opportunity to run into Jaeger in the halls at ADI.
